How to Write a Bank Statement Request Letter?

“Application Letter for Bank Statement” is a kind of business letter, and you should follow some rules while writing it. Below, I am mentioning some important points for your convenience.

Concise and Clear: Your letter should be straightforward and to the point. Don’t use ornamental words. This will unnecessarily complicate the message. Bank managers are usually busy people and may not afford time to read a two page long letter.

Subject Heading: Use a subject heading like “Application for a bank statement”. This will really help the authority to understand the importance of your letter.

Your Identity: Mention your identity and bank account details. Bank account number is a unique identity of your account. If you are visiting your home branch, there is no need to include bank branch details. In this case you can mention your bank account number only. However, you should mention IFS code while applying at some other branches.

Addressee: It is customary to address the letter to your bank’s branch manager.

Fees: Indian banks rarely charge for providing this service. However, it may vary from country to country. You can consult your branch or customer care executive for details.

Sometimes you may need to clarify why you want a printed copy of a bank statement. But I believe that is optional. As a customer, you have the full rights of asking for any services related to your bank account.
